We've had a busy spring here at RSA with several of our restaurant projects opening or nearing completion. 101 Beer Kitchen opened in Gahanna, Ohio (northeast of Columbus) on March 16th just in time for St. Patrick's Day. This is the second location of the "gastropub" known for its seasonal, local products and craft beers. Lunch and dinner are served seven days a week, with brunch service starting April 25th. RSA began design work in March of 2014 and wrapped up construction documents in October. The building was a former Blockbuster Video and required complete interior renovations. The final result is an approximately 5,000 square foot restaurant that seats around 185 guests. We also celebrated the opening of M Italian Restaurant and The Glass Asylum in Chagrin Falls on April 6th. The project occupies the old Ski Haus building on West Orange Street. This site was formerly the Stone Motor Company dealership and repair shop. The project experienced unexpected delays when several old fuel and oil storage tanks were discovered buried underneath the site. Construction was interrupted until the tanks could be investigated, drained, and removed. RSA provided design and construction drawings to divide the building into three tenant spaces, a restaurant, a glass-blowing studio, and offices. The project involved significant roof renovations, exterior material changes, a new covered patio and entrance, as well as complete interior renovations. The restaurant is the latest venture from the Chef.Art.Pour Restaurant Group, also known for Burntwood Tavern. A family-style Italian eatery with a rustic tavern and farmhouse atmosphere, "M Italian" seats approximately 135 people and showcases a wood fired pizza oven behind the bar. While eating dinner, guests can watch the action across the hallway at The Glass Asylum, the premier glass-blowing studio in Northeast Ohio. The studio produces hand-crafted glass and light fixtures, teaches classes, and hosts events. Relocated from Glenville, East Cleveland, the new venue provides the artists with more space to work and feature their pieces for sale.
Nearing completion is the reconstruction of Jekyll's Restaurant on River Street in Chagrin Falls after a total-loss fire in October 2013. We look forward to the re-opening later this month.
